A year ago, Labor restored territory rights.
It was a campaign decades in the making with thousands of Canberrans raising their voice and fighting for their democratic rights.
But since then, Peter Dutton and the conservative Liberals have continually tried to take those rights away.
The Liberals have never believed in the right of Canberrans to legislate for themselves, and they never will.
Earlier this year, the Liberals set up a federal inquiry into the healthcare decisions of the ACT Government – an inquiry designed to undermine our rights.
And now they’re at it again, this time trying to overturn our nation-leading drug laws. Laws that put healthcare before handcuffs and support our most vulnerable and at-risk get the help they need.
It’s clear that the Liberals will keep trying to undermine the rights of Canberrans – on any issue, at any time.
But territory rights aren't negotiable - and they never will be.
