Better Healthcare,

Closer To Home

When you or someone you love is sick, there’s nothing more important than getting the very best care, close to home.

That’s why ACT Labor’s making the biggest investments in free public healthcare in territory history.

We've opened the Canberra Hospital Expansion – as promised. And now we're building the new Northside Hospital and delivering more free services at our nurse-led Walk-in Centres.

And so that Canberrans can get the care they need, when and where they need it – we're hiring 800 more health workers too.

It’s all part of our progressive, practical and proven plan to deliver better healthcare, closer to home.

800 More Health Workers

A re-elected Labor Government will hire 800 more health workers.

That's more nurses, doctors, specialists and other health workers providing free healthcare – right across Canberra.

From our Walk-in Centres to our new hospitals, it'll mean more specialist appointments, mental healthcare and paediatric services where and when you need them

And it's all part of our plan to attract, retain and support more health workers so that we can deliver even better healthcare, closer to home.

New Northside Hospital

Only Labor will build the new Northside Hospital in Bruce.

It's a billion dollar investment to deliver a world-class hospital that'll support our growing city for decades to come.

And it'll provide our health workers with state-of-the-art facilities that'll support them to care for our community.

Because only Labor invests in our healthcare system.

And only Labor looks after those who work in it, and those who rely on it.

Even Better Walk-in Centres

Every day Labor's network of Walk-in Centres provide free healthcare for illnesses and injuries - right across our community.

And we know Canberrans want to see even more free health services on offer.

That's why we're hiring more nurses and delivering more services like x-rays at Belconnen Walk-in Centre.

And under Labor, Walk-in Centres will always be free.

Because we built Walk-in Centres - and we'll always back them.

More Bulk Billing

Labor will incentivise local GPs to bulk bill more Canberrans, more often.

With a new $11 million fund, we'll financially support new bulk billing practices to open, while helping existing bulk billing practices to expand.

At the same time, we'll focus on increasing bulk billing rates for children across our city.

It's all about helping families with the cost of living, while making sure every kid in Canberra can get the care they need, close to home.

New Health Centres

We're building new health centres across Canberra to deliver specialised healthcare for local communities.

From the South Tuggeranong Health Centre in Conder to the West Belconnen Health Centre in Macnamara.

From the Inner South Health Centre in Griffith to the North Gungahlin Health Centre in Casey.

Our health centres will mean better healthcare, closer to home.

No matter where you live in Canberra.
