Labor’s Plan for Woden and Weston Creek
A re-elected ACT Labor Government will continue delivering major infrastructure projects that will transform the Woden Town Centre and invest in suburban improvements in Woden and Weston Creek.
A vote for Labor at the October election is a vote for light rail to Woden, and only Labor has a proven plan to progressively build Canberra’s light rail network.
Labor will continue upgrading and expanding health services in the region. This includes further investment on the Canberra Hospital campus, including more car parking in the precinct, and more free health services at the Weston Creek Walk-in Centre.
Labor will continue investing in our education and training system. We’ll finish the brand new, state-of-the-art CIT Woden, and continue the major expansion of Garran Primary school and undertake a range of public school upgrades across Weston Creek and Woden.
A re-elected Labor Government will also deliver important upgrades to support Canberrans living in Woden and Weston Creek. We will upgrade the shopping precincts at Southlands Mawson and Cooleman Court, continuing the work the Government has already delivered at Weston Creek.
To support community sport in Weston Creek and Woden, we’re making upgrades and improving sport facilities across the region. A re-elected ACT Labor Government will deliver lighting upgrades at Waramanga Oval and upgraded field lights at Stirling Playing fiends to allow for night matches.
Through the newly established footpath maintenance team in the ACT Government, a re-elected Labor Government will also dedicate an additional $5 million to improve footpaths across the Woden and Weston Creek regions.
It’s a practical and proven plan for the future of Weston Creek and Woden. As the region grows, Labor will deliver the infrastructure and services that the community needs.
