Labor’s Plan for Molonglo
Molonglo is one of the fastest growing regions in Canberra, and Labor has a plan to deliver the services and infrastructure the community will need.
At the centre of Labor’s Plan for Molonglo is construction of the new Molonglo Town Centre.
Already, the Government has sought approval to include a town centre in the National Capital Plan.
A re-elected Labor Government will build on this by making significant investments in the new Molonglo Town Centre, providing more services, amenities and housing options.
We will build:
- A new Molonglo Police Station to support community safety and wellbeing. This is in addition to the new Molonglo Emergency Services Station
- A Molonglo library and community centre, providing locals and community groups with a place to host events, arts, meetings, and community activities.
- A flexible working hub for ACT Government employees
- A new Child and Family Centre to provide more support and services to young families in the region
- Stage 1 of the Molonglo Parkway-Drive Connector
We will also continue work on new and expanded schools for Molonglo, including a new public high school and college in the Molonglo Town Centre, which will include a range of new facilities open to community use.
To support the diverse community of the Molonglo Valley, Labor will also release community facility land to be used by cultural groups for religious worship.
As part of Labor’s housing plan, the new Molonglo Town Centre will include more housing through mixed-use developments - providing more housing for Canberrans and supporting a lively town centre.
While Labor is delivering huge infrastructure projects across the region, including the Molonglo River Bridge and the John Gorton Drive Extension, we’re also working to ensure locals have access to the services and facilities that make Molonglo a great place to live.
This includes expanding paediatric services at the Health Centre in Coombs, building better footpaths and progressing stage one of the Stromlo Forest Park Master Plan.
Only a Labor Government can be trusted to deliver the infrastructure Molonglo needs while improving the things locals love.
It’s all part of our practical, proven and progressive plan for Canberra.
