Support a Voice to Parliament
ACT Labor acknowledges the traditional owners of the ACT, who like First Peoples from across this continent, never ceded their sovereignty to this land.
In 2017, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people gathered together in one of the largest and most representative forums of Australia's First Peoples in modern times to develop and deliver the Uluru Statement from the Heart. You can learn about the Uluru Statement here. See the Yes campaign here.
ACT Labor has supported all elements of Uluru Statement - Voice, Treaty and Truth - since it was delivered.
This year the Australian people will go to a referendum to enshrine an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice in the Constitution. Australians are coming together across the country to show their support for the referendum.
We have an ambition to see the ACT deliver the highest Yes vote in the country and we need your help to do it.
Will you pledge your support for an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to parliament that will:
- Recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians in our Constitution
- Consult Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians on laws and policies that affect them, making a real difference to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.
