As part of our job creating plan to continue renewing infrastructure in our local suburbs, a re-elected Labor Government will invest $5.4 million in local playgrounds, including the construction of a new destination playground in the Inner North.
This investment will create local jobs over the next four years – contributing to Labor’s goal to grow our employment base to more than 250,000 local jobs by 2025.
A re-elected ACT Labor Government will improve playgrounds in six suburbs:
- Kaleen
- Ngunnawal
- Chisholm
- Gordon
- Lyons
- Aranda
Each project will be different, and may include upgrades to the existing playground or adding new play facilities like a nature play, climbing structures and bike pump tracks.
Following the successful construction of the playground at the arboretum, a re-elected ACT Labor Government will also invest $2 million in a district playground in the inner-north.
Labor will consult with the community on the exact location and facilities that are provided at this new playground.
In addition to these playgrounds, a re-elected ACT Labor Government will also invest $360,000 to build 12 new shade-sails at playgrounds across Canberra, and $400,000 to build fencing at playgrounds.
In Government, ACT Labor has already delivered a full program of new and upgraded playgrounds across Canberra.
The pandemic isn’t over and there is more work to do, but ACT Labor has the right plan to support jobs and lead our city through the pandemic.
