Healthcare has always been a priority for Labor and with Canberra growing at more than 5,000 people a year, we need a plan to ensure that our health system remains one of the best in Australia. That's why Labor has committed to a ten year plan including significant upgrades of Canberra Hospital, two new Nurse-led Walk-in Centres in Gungahlin and Weston Creek and we're laying the ground work for a brand new hospital on the north-side of Canberra.
Modernising the Canberra Hospital
Labor has committed to modernising and expanding the Canberra Hospital, the centre piece of this commitment is the construction of a new Surgical Procedures, Interventional Radiology and Emergency (SPIRE) Centre.

Labor has now committed to expanding this state of the art hospital which includes 12 new paediatric high-dependency units and four paediatric intensive care beds and the employment of an additional 107 health professionals.
